My Saturday Summer Springs Stroll

Western Springs – a spring fed freshwater lake which was the source of Auckland’s first reticulated bulk water supply back in 1877.  The water comes up through the volcanic rocks.

I had a 40 minute leisurely walk around Western Springs Park today; stopping frequently to check out the waterfowl. The only thing that prevented me from getting into the lake with the birds was the leash linking me to my human. There were also eels and fish in there. Perhpas next time I'll get to go for a swim with them.

(Mum likes the colours of this New Zealand native bird – the Pukeko)

Wishing you all a good weekend,
Riley

Hi Riley - my human took me to Western Springs for walks a few times too! I remember being chased by Evil Geese there who were really scary! :-)

The Pukeko birdie is just beautiful, Riley, and we see a Greylag! We have a Greylag goose on our pond named Grampa. And we think we see a black swan and her cygnet! What an exciting walkie!

Love ya lots

My hunting endeavors have often been thwarted by the leash, as well! I feel your pain!

Hello Riley! Whenever I read your posts I'm always taken in by your amazing adventures and comment on them, but today I am really taken in by the first photo of you--I've always thought it, but have never said what an extremely handsome boy I think you are and that photo really shows it!! I'm glad you enjoyed the park, I thought the Pukeko was really interesting, we've nothing like that here! :-)

Riley looks so mature all of a sudden! Isn't he handsome? I think your native bird is beautiful...only God can make colors that vibrant!

So many great photos every time we visit, handsome boy; it looks like you enjoyed a fun and exciting walk...We are trying to catch up with our wonderful friends on the weekends; our Mommy's new job, along with her part time one, makes it difficult to visit during the week now...We hope you have a fun weekend, sweet friend...kisses...Calle, Halle, Sukki
